Phyllis BergquistMember and local activist Phyllis Bergquist is available for speaking engagements and presentations on Israel/Palestine and "The Wall" Israel is currently building. Learn of her experiences in Israel/Palestine in April 2004.
Phyllis is a 50+ wife and mother of two adult
children. She was a lifelong Republican who was elected to office when the
family lived in Connecticut. She was quite a homebody since moving to
Wisconsin, very comfortable in her Middle Class life. About 6 years ago she
was forced by a conversation with her daughter, to open her eyes to the
realities of what is going on in other parts of the world.
In April of 2004, Phyllis traveled to Israel and
the West Bank with a small group lead by a woman living and working in the
area with Christian Peacemaker Teams. Their delegation met with groups and
individuals from both sides of the conflict. They traveled with Jewish
Israelis and West Bank Palestinians, so they might understand the
differences. They were lucky enough to meet with, and speak with a Settler
family in Efrat Settlement just outside Jerusalem. They stayed in hostels,
homes and the CPT apartment. During Phyllis' 11 days in Israel and
Palestinian territory she had numerous experiences that she shares, along with
photos and/or Power Point presentation.
