To learn more about the devastating effects to the people of Iraq from
the economic sanctions imposed by the U.N. and enforced by the U.S.
government, go to www.vitw.org, the site
for Voices in the Wilderness. These people go to Iraq to witness the
suffering and then come back to share their testimonies so that more
people here will understand many of the Iraqi's plight.

If you would like to become an inspector to disarm the country with the
most weapons of mass destruction in the world (guess who?), sign up at
www.rootingoutevil.org. Just
reading the testimonies of other "inspectors" from all over the world is
enlightening. It dispels the myth that the U.S. is a beacon of hope for

Among other things, a partial
list of U.S. military interventions from 1890 to 2000.
08/03/04 "ICH" -- A humanitarian crisis has been looming in Iraq since
the 1991 U.S. war due to shortage of drinking water and increase in
waterborne diseases that kill children. Despite abundant supplies of
water from the Tigris and Euphrates, and the Shatt-Al-Arab waterway
formed by the confluence of the two rivers, because of the destruction
to Iraq’s infrastructure and the genocidal sanctions imposed on Iraq by
the U.S-UN.
Aug. 2, 2004 -- Forty years ago today, a murky military encounter at sea
plunged the United States deeper into the war in Vietnam. On Aug. 2,
1964, three North Vietnamese torpedo boats attacked a U.S. destroyer in
the Gulf of Tonkin. Two days later, the U.S. Navy reported to Secretary
of Defense Robert McNamara that another American destroyer was under
attack by the North Vietnamese.
The allegation that Iraqi Interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi shot seven
restrained prisoners (killing six) in a fit of anger—with a number of
witnesses present—is certainly newsworthy.
But, remarkably, the U.S. media has chosen not to cover it,
preferring to accept official denials. The foreign press is not so
trusting. The disconcerting result is that we simply aren’t getting the
same picture of Iraq that citizens of every other English-speaking
country see.
